September 29th.......

49 years ago on this day my Mother gave birth to a healthy little girl. She named her Vicki Darlene Rodgers. At the time I had one older sister and she just thought the world of me. Over the years Mama has told me many stories of my childhood but unfortunately I can't remember them. You see some where along the line of growing up God decided that I needed a little bit of something to deal with so I have Fibromyalgia Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic Pain Syndrome, IBS, Arthritis, Migraines, Depression, Anxiety and Endometriosis. I have learned a very good lesson from all of this. I will not complain about my life anymore, Good Lord willing. I have two amazing sons who have grown up to be wonderful men. I pray that they will not complain about what they don't have and never ever scream out at God cause it can only make things worse. I have a wonderful daughter-in-law as well as a handsome grandson. I love my family and it has taken God to help me see all that I was missing. I am thankful today to have God in my life along with all of my wonderful internet friends and family. They have helped me see more and understand what I am going through and I love each and everyone of them for that. As I come to the end of this day I just want everyone to love and appreciate everyone in their life cause you never know when something is going to happen. You see one year ago on the 25th we lost a nephew in an awful car accident and then without thinking they buried him on the 29th which is my special day to rejoice and enjoy it but as I sat here today all I could think about was that young man and the way his life had ended. I pray he knew Jesus and is in heaven watching over us but you just never really know. It has been an emotional day for me for that reason. If something like this should happen again would you just please promise me you won't have a funeral on my special day? I never thought it would bother me but it does. I don't blame anyone for this mishap because God has been with me all day to help me through it. If you don't believe in God then maybe it is time that you went down on bended knee and had a little chat with him. It is amazing the peace you will feel afterwards. I love everyone in my life because God has put you there for a reason. I'm just sorry it has taken me so long to understand everything. Love and Butterfly Hugs :)))

The Joys of Winning......

Tonight I actually participated in an online Book Discussion/Party. Never had heard of anything like it and at first I was quite overwhelmed. Seemed that everyone was talking at once and you had to keep refreshing your page so that you could try to keep up but even then you still missed out on a lot of what was being said. Suzanne had trivia as well as drawings for several other things. To make it legit everything was done by email and had nothing to do with Facebook which I thought was great. Anyway, to make a long story short I won a book. A Lancaster County Christmas by Suzanne Woods Fisher. I never figured I would win anything since I was so far behind on a lot of what they were talking about but I guess I got just enough in and at the right times. Of course I really don't know how they determine who gets what or anything but I was just tickled cause I had won. I don't win often so this is a big deal to me. It is a wonderful book and I hope that all of my readers will eventually purchase it or possibly win it at some point in time and read it. I know you will enjoy it as I will. God Bless. Love and Butterfly Hugs :)))))

The Book Series That I Read This Past Week.....

It has been a while since my last blog. It has been crazy for me with going back and forth to the doctors and then I fell last week and have been having problems with my hip but it will heal in time. Anyway, we are here to talk about books and I just got through reading a very good series that I would recommend to each and everyone of you if you love reading about the Amish as I do.

The Series is "Ada's House" and the author is Cindy Woodsmall. Cindy is a good author and has several out there that I have read.

The first one is entitled A Hope of Refuge and is about Cara. She was raised in foster care and now a widowed single parent, New Yorker Cara Moore struggles against poverty, fear, and a relentless stalker. When a trail of memories leads Cara and her daughter, Lori, away from the city toward an Amish community, she follows every lead, eager for answers to mysteries from her past and a fresh start. She quickly discovers that Dry Lake, Pennsylvania, is no place for an outsider. But one Amish man, Ephraim Mast, dares to fulfill the command he believes that he received from God-”Be me to her”- despite how it threatens his way of life. Ephraim’s sister Deborah is fearful of the strange Englischer woman causing turmoil for her family, but she keeps focused on the marriage and home she longs to begin with Mahlon Stoltzfus. Her dreams are threatened when Mahlon begins behaving oddly, withdrawing, and causing concern for Deborah and Mahlon’s mother, Ada. Will the run-down house that Ada envisions transforming unite them toward a common purpose-or push Mahlon away forever? As Ephraim is torn between trying to do what he believes is right and the requirements of his community, he risks losing everything, including a developing friendship with the guarded single mother. And he knows that long-held secrets about her family history ripple beneath the surface of Dry Lake-secrets with the power to tear apart the home Cara is desperately trying to find.

The second one is entitled The Bridge of Peace and is about Lena. Headstrong schoolteacher Lena Kauffman finds herself at the center of controversy in her Amish community when a young man in her classroom refuses to submit to her authority. As her friends and family rally around her, especially longtime friend Grey Graber, things go from bad to worse when Grey’s wife, Elsie, becomes an accidental target in trouble meant for Lena. As the present unravels around them, each must find their own way through their private pain in order to find peace and a brighter future.

The third book is entitled The Harvest of Grace and is about Aaron and a newcomer to the area by the name of Sylvia Fisher. Although Sylvia Fisher recognizes that most Old Order Amish women her age spend their hours managing a household and raising babies, she has just one focus—tending and nurturing the herd on her family’s dairy farm. But when a dangerous connection with an old beau forces her to move far from home, she decides to concentrate on a new start and pour her energy into reviving another family’s debt-ridden farm.
 After
months in rehab, Aaron Blank returns home to sell his Daed’s failing farm and move his parents into an easier lifestyle. Two things stand in his way: the father who stubbornly refuses to recognize that Aaron has changed and the determined new farmhand his parents love like a daughter. Her influence on Aaron’s parents could ruin his plans to escape the burdens of farming and build a new life.
Can Aaron and Sylvia find common ground? Or will their unflinching efforts toward opposite goals blur the bigger picture— a path to forgiveness, glimpses of grace, and the promise of love.

Wonderfully great series. Hated to see it come to an end but it was a wonderful one to read. If you read this or have already read it then leave a comment and tell me what you thought of the series. Love and Butterfly Hugs :)))
